More Sketchbook

Airplane sketches

So the sketches on the left side are copies of Wending drawing.  Need to work on my line work.

Concept work for illustration and character concepts for animation.

So the painting on the left is a fail but whatever, it's a practice.  I like the middle face on the right side. I kind of want to develop her more... maybe create a whole character/world.

Ha so this character was born in my junior or senior year of high school.  My best friend Bryan and I come up with the most ridiculous stuff.  So original idea was: A gorilla with a frill fancy collar and a laser gun.

SKETCHBOOK WOOH!

So as an art student, my sketchbook is my home.

I draw in it ALL the time.

If you want to be an art student, get a sketchbook and DRAW.  ALL the time.  Serious.

Anyways, my sketchbook varies in being observational and a place for me to create ideas for characters. I started traditional animation in my second semester of freshman year and I love it.  Goal for summer, create more and better animations.

Longer Drawings

These drawings range from 20 to 45 minute drawings, starting off with the shorter ones.

I just have to put this out there, the first older gentleman has his scrotum pierced.  How do I know this? Well during the warm up gesture drawings he decided to pose with his back end up in the air.  It was so hard to not laugh XD

After the first three the rest were done in a subtractive method where a layer of charcoal dust is rubbed into the paper and then an eraser or cloth is used bring back whites and grey onto the paper.  I really like the method for it's sculptural quality.

By the way, I love drawing cloth.

Quick Figure Drawings

Okay so I do have gesture drawings, but none of which I'm really proud of so I'm just going to start off with the 5 to 10 minute drawings.

I tend to experiment with different types of materials, so I usually use soft vine charcoal and a charcoal pencil.

Oh hey there!

So I feel like now is the time to start a blog so people can be updated on what's going on with me here at Ringling College of Art and Design.

I'll start off by introducing myself, I'm Lidia and studying computer animation.  I'm getting ready to go into my sophomore year (the pressure is overwhelming).  The first couple of posts will be dedicated to the work I created during my freshman year and hopefully I can regularly update this site.
